Tamanu Oil – Inspiring modern skincare

We have always enjoyed highlighting the ingredients we incorporate in to our range of natural Australian Botanical skincare and thought it might be time to chat to you about this active ingredient that we have incorporated into our newly launched Brightening & Restorative Face Oil.

Tamanu Oil has been researched extensively for its potent healing properties for treating all kinds of skin ailments including eczema, rashes, stretch marks, age spots and so on – but it contains some pretty unique properties that anyone can enjoy — with or without problem skin.

Tamanu oil can be used in skin care products as it is composed of phospholipids and glycolipids, which are known to help protect the skin’s moisture barrier and are natural constituents of healthy looking skin.

Numerous biological studies have shown that this antioxidant–rich oil contains moisturising omega fatty acids and it is well known to promote new and healthy cell growth which in turn aid the production of certain components of your skin — including collagen and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) — all important in the healing of dryness, scars and acne.  It is also rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which is why over the course of history it has been used for wound healing.  Nowadays, extensive research has proven this active cosmetic ingredient to contain unique characteristics which make it one of the super oils to look out for and include in your skincare routine to revitalise and improve the texture of your skin, giving it a fresh look.

Tamanu Oil is pressed from the inside kernel of the nuts of either the Calophyllum inophyllum or the Calophyllum tacamahaca, tropical trees belonging to Calophyllaceae family.

It goes without saying really that we can all be a little guilty of glazing over ingredients lists when shopping for our next ‘must have’ skincare product.  It really is a good idea to have a quick glance at the label though and even just take in the top third of the ingredients list as this is where the highest percentage of ingredients sit.

Other amazing oils contained in our Brightening and Restorative Face Oil are certified organic Macademia Oil, certified organic Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Oil, certified organic Borage Oil and Vitamin E.

We have also included our signature blend of essential oils which, not only provide the wonderful uplifting aroma in our range of Australian Botanical products, but also have their own unique set of properties which all play their part in enhancing, restoring, brightening, soothing and generally promoting good skincare.

Protect your skin from harsh environmental influences by applying Aequora’s Brightening & Restorative Face Oil which creates a high antioxidant barrier for your face.
