Face Mist……what is it exactly? We explain how to use our Hydrating Facial Mist and why it should be your ‘must have’ item

Published on: February 15, 2019Category: Uncategorised

Easy to mistake face mist for just water in a bottle to
freshen you up on a hot day! A face mist isn’t something that only the ‘beauty
elite’ carry around – it should be an important part of your daily skincare
routine.

A face spray is a water based product for sure, but there’s also a lot of amazing ingredients that are incredibly beneficial for your skin. Our Hydrating Facial Mist is suited to all skin types: dry, dehydrated skin or even oily skin and is great at soothing irritated skin due to many of the ingredients containing anti-inflammatory properties.

We highlight 3 amazing ingredients included in our Australian Botanical Hydrating Facial Mist bottle: Aloe Vera, Green Tea & Vitamin E.  These ingredients alone boast a whole host of incredible properties.

Aloe
Vera
is a fabulous skin conditioning agent.  It helps balance the skin’s water content and
helps improve skin elasticity.

Green Tea
is naturally rich in antioxidants which have a
cell-protecting function as well. It is the strong antioxidant effect
that protects the skin from the damaging effect of free radicals.

Vitamin E – this we all know – is a powerful antioxidant as well that may be effective at reducing UV damage in skin. It is also very nourishing and like Green Tea, also protects your skin from damage caused by free radicals.

When to use:

During your morning
& evening skincare routine

Whether your skin is dry
or oily, it needs to be kept hydrated.  During
your morning and evening skincare routine, spray a little mist
on your face and after a few seconds gently pat it with a cotton pad or tissue
paper to prevent it from evaporating.

Using our facial mist just before you moisturise your skin will keep the hydration locked in and leave your face feeling supple.  Our Hydrating Facial Mist is also a great replacement for your toner as many toners tend to dry out the face.

A few ‘did you know’
facts:

You can add our face mist to help dilute face creams with
a thicker consistency.  This will help
them be applied to your skin more easily.

If you give your face a light spritz with our face mist
after applying your make up it not only helps set the make-up but also you will
achieve that fresh, dewy look.

Spray on a little mist any time during the day to feel
fresh and rejuvenated.

New Year – New goals for your hard working hands

Published on: January 3, 2019Category: Uncategorised

It’s true – we spend so much time worrying about the wrinkles, lines and blotches on our face, that we forget about noticing our hands and here’s a fact: our hands often show the first signs of ageing!

Here’s why…. our hands are exposed practically 24/7 and at greater risk of damage caused by sun exposure as the skin on the back of our hands is thinner than the skin on our face.  So, we really should be looking to use a good hand cream to help prevent the age spots and wrinkles that will appear quickly if our hands are lacking in moisture.

When washing your hands, we recommend using our Cleansing Soap Bar or our Hydrating Hand & Body Wash from our Australian Botanicals range, as these products are gentle and hydrating and won’t dry your skin out like many hand washes and sanitisers containing synthetic ingredients and chemicals which will strip the natural oils from your hands and dry them out.

After washing your hands, it is always a good idea to apply a hand cream to lock in that moisture.  Our Australian Botanicals Intensely Moisturising Hand Cream has been highly commended in this year’s Natural Beauty Awards 2019 by Nature & Health Magazine and contains wonderfully rich, hydrating ingredients including shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil and avocado oil.

All our products are 100% natural and contain certified organic ingredients and the amazing properties that these ingredients contain get absorbed by your skin rather than just sitting on the surface of your skin as products containing petroleum, mineral oil and silicones will.

Another fact is that our Intensely Moisturising Hand Cream is also quite versatile and can be used on your face too as a rich moisturiser!!!  One of our happy customers recently posted on Instagram saying it’s one of the only creams that she will use on her face due to an intolerance she has to lots of ingredients used in other products.  We are so pleased that we can safely say our products are suitable for all skin types even the highly sensitive ones and that is due to the high quality natural ingredients we source.

So, one of your New Year resolutions ought to include sparing a thought for those hard-working hands and looking after them!  Give them the care and attention they deserve and as we all begin to age, or if you already have mature skin, let them keep guessing at your age – hands can be a real giveaway of a person’s age you know!

Self belief…..what you need to know

Published on: November 20, 2018Category: Uncategorised

‘Don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you don’t deserve to live the life of your dreams. Don’t ever let anyone make you doubt yourself.’

This is what I had to remind myself of when I told a friend I was studying organic skincare and essential oils with a view to formulating my own range of products. “Don’t be ridiculous” she said “what do you know about that? You’ll probably burn someone’s face off and get sued”. Not quite the encouragement I was hoping for.

But I had my self-belief that if I studied and gained the relevant qualifications and surrounded myself with the right professional people, it was absolutely possible. I like to think of it as Karma when you can prove them wrong too!

I also realised it was her ignorance that threw out those disparaging remarks – you’re not going to burn someone’s face off with natural and organic ingredients. I explained to her that it was chemicals that would cause burns and my skincare would be chemical and toxin free, but she didn’t get it really. That brought another element to my journey which would be to inform people that simply pull ‘cheap’ or shall we say ‘cost effective’ skincare items off the shelf that they really should start having a look at what ingredients are on the labels and gain even a basic knowledge of the ‘nasties’ – those toxic ingredients we should all avoid.

If you have a passion and a dream, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve it – have the confidence and determination to succeed.
That’s not to say there’s not a lot of hard work ahead to achieve your goals. Lots of studying, which actually is fun when you’re interested in the subject. I keep reminding my teenage daughter of this – once you are actually studying a subject you enjoy, it doesn’t feel like a chore. You actually feel you want to absorb more and more information. Yes, there will be lots of steep learning curves and honestly, quite a few hurdles and mistakes along the way. But we learn from our failures and mistakes – that’s how we go from strength to strength. I remember my parents passing this information on to me and now I’m passing it on to my own daughter.

Have the courage to do what you are passionate about – follow your dreams and live the life you dream of – because you can achieve it over time. I’m a Mum, after all – which means I’m pretty much a super hero!

“When you have a dream, you will have doubters.

These gleeful killjoys shoot us down before we take off. They say “you can’t” when we thought we can. They make us hesitant when we were sure, silly when we were smart.

External doubt feeds self-doubt; the number one dream-killer as shown in studies. Life and success aren’t about what happens to you, it’s about how you perceive and respond to what happens to you. And doubters happen. They happen fast and hard on your unsuspecting dream.

Be ready for them. Better yet, benefit from them. Because, as unthinkable as that sounds, you can.”

Body Lotion Vs Body Oil

Published on: October 15, 2018Category: Uncategorised

What’s the difference? What’s best for my skin?

There is so much out in the market to choose from isn’t there? Which is best though and how do you know what ‘s best for your skin? It can be so confusing. It needn’t be though – just a basic knowledge will suffice really and knowing your own skin.

There will always be the latest crazes and fads in skincare but at the end of the day we all know there is no miracle cream or oil that will turn back time and make us all flawless.

There is however, good, simple skincare that is non-toxic and contains high quality ingredients that nourish and hydrate our skin which is key to healthy looking skin.

So, firstly, assess your skin and get to know what level of hydration your skin requires.

Secondly, understand the difference between a Body Lotion and a Body Oil. They both moisturise your skin but the difference is how they are absorbed. Basically, a Body Lotion penetrates the skin – it gets absorbed and active ingredients like Vitamin E etc. get to work in soothing and hydrating the upper layers of the skin. Lotions, like our Australian Botanicals Body Moisturising Lotion contain a blend of water, oil and emulsifying agents (a waxy substance). Our Body Lotion is thicker than body oils and can be applied directly onto your skin.

Body oils are made with a primary oil and, surprisingly, do not leave you feeling greasy and they do quickly absorb into your skin. Oils nourish the outer protective barrier of your skin and are particularly suited to dry skin due to their potency.

A Body Lotion, such as our Australian Botanicals Moisturising Body Lotion, contain an abundance of additional skin loving ingredients such as Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and due to their formulation also have a fabulous aroma provided by the essential oils blend that is used.

Body Lotions and Body Oils can provide skin firming and toning benefits and both nourish the skin. Oils are beneficial for stretch marks and acne prone and troublesome skin due to their potency again.

It’s always a good idea to try both when you’re unsure. Did you know you can also add some drops of Body Oil to your Body Lotion for an extra boost of skin hydration?

My personal preference is to use a Body Lotion but I must admit that for my face I have now swapped to a Face Oil which I highly recommend after years of using a face cream. Again, it’s all about knowing what is best for your individual skin type.

And lastly, please remember to buy cruelty free skincare.

Happy moisturising!

Skin Benefits of Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil

Published on: July 11, 2018Category: Uncategorised

What are the benefits?

Persia Gratissima Oil or Avocado Oil as it is better known is teaming with incredible properties beneficial for your skin. This cold pressed oil is rich in Vitamins A and D and E and can penetrate quickly into the lower skin layers to promote healing, skin regeneration and protection from the ageing effects of UV light and pollution.

Used topically, vitamin-rich Avocado Oil smooths out the look of wrinkles, helps to tighten the skin and diminish blemishes.  It is also gentle enough to be used on dry, ageing, rough or sensitive skin.

So, here’s the ‘sciencey’ bit explained in brief:

The main chemical constituents of Avocado Oil are: Palmitic Acid, Palmitoleic Acid, Stearic Acid, Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Alpha Linoleic Acid, Arachidic Acid and Gadoleic Acid.

These chemical constituents all carry their own set of beneficial skin properties:

Palmitic Acid has emollient properties; Palmitoleic Acid helps delay the appearance of premature ageing, moisturises and tightens skin, enhances skin complexion and skin elasticity; Stearic Acid has cleansing properties and can balance out excess sebum and soften skin; Oleic Acid helps skin suppleness and helps reduce the signs of ageing – also helps to prevent joint inflammation and pain; Linoleic Acid has anti-inflammatory properties and promotes moisture retention in skin; Alpha Linoleic Acid helps soothe joint pain and inflammation: Arachidic Acid helps boost immunity and soothe joint pain: Gadoleic Acid is easily absorbed into the skin and good for balancing the oil in the skin.

Pretty amazing stuff all in all!  That’s why we included it in our following skincare products:

Intensely Moisturising Hand Cream; Body Moisturising Lotion; Hydrating Hand & Body Wash

Why buy Aequora Skincare?

Published on: June 19, 2018Category: Uncategorised

Because They are Natural & Organic Products

To start with we realise they’re not cheap – but as we all know, you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Let’s not be fooled by the big cosmetic companies that lure you in by spending a fortune on glossy advertising campaigns, which is what you are paying for. They may be beautifully packaged products and you think you’re paying a lot for a great product but that’s not necessarily the case.

At the other end of the scale are the cheap, almost too affordable products – these products are mass produced in a lab using cheap grade ingredients.

Natural and organic skincare products tend to be made by smaller companies who are more eco conscious than the big cosmetic corporations. Aequora use biodegradable packaging – we care about not only what your skin absorbs but also we care about not polluting the environment and only use ingredients we know won’t be damaging as they go into our waterways and eventually into our oceans. Therefore, rest assured our products do not contain harmful preservatives, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and colours or any other nasties.

It should go without saying but we’ll state the obvious – we are against animal cruelty and all our products are cruelty free. Absolutely no testing on animals.

So, lastly, when you buy natural and organic products you’ll realise they actually work and ‘does what it says on the tin’!  How come?  Well, you’re actually paying for high concentrations of pure ingredients, predominantly plant derived that actually enrich your skin.  Your skin is absorbing pure moisturising and hydrating ingredients as opposed to chemicals. You also benefit from pure essential oils all with their own set of incredible properties instead of synthetic fragrance, along with plant extracts and seed and nut oils – all containing vitamins and antioxidants.

All these natural and organic ingredients formulated together combine to form incredible skincare benefits that leave your skin moisturised, hydrated and looking fresh and radiant.
